Exception	Meaning	Solution
Corrupt	Discover is unable to open the document**	If possible replace with a “clean” document. **PDF forms can tag as corrupt.
Data Type Conversion Failed	An invalid date was extracted for a document	No action needed [RT] Ingestion Exception Details contains additional details
Database	The file type is considered a database file	No action needed.
Deleted Item	Deleted files were found on the source material	No action needed. Commonly seen when processing forensic copies
Empty File	Document has a size of 0	No action needed.
Encrypted	The document contrains encrypted content**	Replace document with an decrypted version **Excel documents that have a protected cell, will flag as encrypted.
Export Failed	Documents that have no binary data**, are MIME or considered “poison”.	No action needed **PDF portfolios, or zip shells that do not get suppressed can receive this flag
Extracted Text Only	Used when extracted text is used instead of the native.**	No action needed **ico files receive this flag
Field Data Extraction Error	There was an issue when the document was processed for a specific metadata field	No action needed [RT] Ingestion Exceptions Details contains additional details
Field Data Truncated	The field value is beyond 255 characters	No action needed [RT] Ingestion Exceptions Details contains additional details **Is commonly seen in email subject lines
Missing Hash Value	The system was unable to obtain the documents hash value	No action needed Usually seen with other processing exceptions, like empty
Multimedia	Items where the Kind = "Multimedia" from the supported file types list.	No action needed
NIST Item	A known file from the NSRL Reference Data Set, also referred to as the NIST list.	No action needed
Non-Searchable PDF	A PDF document that did not contain embedded test	Send material for embedded OCRing **If OCR documents without content files is selected in cases and servers, non-searchable PDFs will automatically submitted for OCRing
Inaccessible Content	Discover is unable to access a supported file	No action needed
Renamed Extension	The file extension (determined by the document header) is different then on the original file.	No action needed
System File	Items where the Kind = "System File" from the supported file types list.	No action needed
Text Stripped	Items where the application recognized the file type, but the text and metadata cannot be cleanly extracted. The result is an item that is searchable, but the text may be distorted or not properly formatted.	No action needed
Unknown Binary	Items where Document Kind = "Unrecognized" or items where the MIME type is application/octet-stream.	No action needed
